Lawyers representing campaigners challenging Aberdeen City Council’s decision to close six libraries and a swimming pool say they plan to start legal proceedings this week.
A petition for a judicial review following the closure of the city’s Woodside Library and Bucksburn Swimming Pool is expected to be lodged at the Court of Session in Edinburgh on Wednesday.
Judicial review petitions for the five other libraries are expected to follow.
The local authority said it could not comment on any legal action.
Campaigns were launched to save Woodside, Cornhill, Kaimhill, Cults, Ferryhill, and Northfield libraries after the council announced they would close due to budget cuts.
There were also demonstrations to keep Bucksburn Swimming Pool open.
Those fighting for the facilities say shutting them down takes away vital services for communities.
Solicitor Hannah Moneagle said the judicial review petitions looked at equality assessments related to the closures and “whether any consultation was taken with members of the public.”
An Aberdeen City Council spokesperson said: “We are unable to comment on any ongoing legal action.”
