Lifeboats were launched to rescue a man near Aberdeen Beach who turned out to be on a sponsored paddle round Britain.
RNLI Aberdeen Lifeboat Station said the callout on Monday afternoon was a “false alarm with good intent”.
A concerned member of the public contacted emergency services at around 12pm after believing the paddle boarder had got himself into difficulty in the water.
Volunteer crews launched two lifeboats and sped to the location, where on arrival they found the fundraiser on his charity paddle.
The rescuers said he was in “good health and spirits” and was well-equipped for his adventure.
The Aberdeen team then wished him well and took the precaution of advising lifeboat stations further north of his intentions.
Coxswain Davie Orr said: “This gentleman looked prepared for the elements and had a means of contact with the rescue services if he had needed them.
“The person who reported the matter did the right thing to call and we are always happy to help keep people safe and check these things out.”
