Loganair launches new flight between Dundee and Belfast

The first flight on a new Loganair service between Dundee and Belfast will take off on Friday.

It will leave for Belfast City Airport at 1.15pm and links the city with Northern Ireland for the first time in eight years.

The service will initially consist of twice-weekly flights, leaving on Fridays and Sundays, with a 3pm return each day.

The frequency will increase to four flights a week from March 29.

Derrick Lang, Dundee Airport manager, said: “This is an important and welcome additional route that further enhances connectivity for the region.

“Travellers will be able to visit two of the UK’s most vibrant cities that have benefited from positive transformation in recent years.”

The Scottish airline already flies from Belfast City to Aberdeen and Inverness, and recently launched a service to Glasgow.

In early July, Loganair began flying a route from Dundee to London City Airport next month.

The Belfast flight was called an “important boost” for the airport by Mark Flynn of Dundee City Council.

Mr Flynn, convener of the city development committee, said: “Like Dundee, Belfast is one of the fastest growing and most interesting city destinations right now, so it makes perfect sense that the two should be joined by a quick and efficient air link.

“Establishing this route to complement the London service is an important boost for the airport, and we look forward to welcoming many more visitors from across the Irish Sea as a result.”
