A major search is ongoing for a teen who had been paddle boarding at a beauty spot in Fife, with a no fly zone put in place.

Emergency services, including the Coastguard, were called to Lochore Meadows in Lochgelly after receiving a report of concern for a 15-year-old male youth around 5.25pm on Saturday.

The teenager had been paddle boarding at the beauty spot.

Police also put temporary airspace restrictions in place from Sunday until 9am on Monday.

Members of the public are being asked to avoid the area if possible with enquiries ongoing.

A Police Scotland statement read: “Around 5.25pm on Saturday, June 28, 2025 we were called to Lochore Meadows, Lochgelly after receiving a report of concern for a 15-year-old male youth who had been paddle boarding.

“Emergency services, including the Coastguard, remain in the area today and extensive searches are being carried out.

“Enquiries are ongoing and we would ask people to please avoid the area if possible.”

An additional statement read: “Temporary airspace restrictions are in place at Lochore Meadows from Sunday, June 29, to 9am on Monday, June 30 2025, for security and your safety.

“Restrictions apply to all aircrafts, including drones.

“You must check if it is legal to fly in your area. Drone users are responsible. It is a criminal offence to fly in restricted airspace.”

HM Coastguard has been contacted for comment.
