A 28-year-old man has died after he was hit by a car in Aberdeenshire.
Emergency services were called out to the incident on Old Meldrum Road in Newmachar at around 1am on Thursday.
Police Scotland said a 28-year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
A spokesperson for the force said: “We received a report of a crash involving a car and a pedestrian on Old Meldrum Road, Newmachar, around 1am on Thursday.
“Emergency services attended and the 28-year-old male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Enquiries are ongoing and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.
“Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting incident 0148 of August 31.”
