A man is fighting for life in hospital after being seriously assaulted by a cyclist on an Elgin street.
The incident occurred on Harrow Inn Close at around 3.15pm on Friday when an altercation took place outside a business premises.
Emergency services attended and a 55-year-old man was taken to hospital, where his condition is described as critical but stable.
Police were also in attendance and they have released a description of the suspect they are looking to trace in connection with the attack.
He is described as a white man in his 20s with a slim build and short ginger hair.
Officers say he spoke with a local accent, and at the time of the incident, he was wearing black jogging bottoms, gloves, a black Napapijri hooded jacket.
He was riding a mountain bike on South Street moments before the incident.
Detective Inspector Andrew Wilson said: “I understand this incident will be concerning for the local community, and I can reassure them that detectives are following several lines of enquiry, including interviewing witnesses and reviewing relevant CCTV footage.
“I am also appealing directly to the man involved to come forward at this stage and speak to officers.”
