Man, 62, dies after one-vehicle crash on A9 near Dunkeld as police investigation continues

A man has died after a one-vehicle crash on the A9 road near Dunkeld.

The crash, which involved a white Toyota Hilux, occurred on the southbound carriageway near Jubilee Bridge at around 10.25am on Monday, August 17.

Emergency services including police and ambulance, were in attendance.

An ambulance spokesperson confirmed an ambulance, an air ambulance, a critical care team, and a special operations response team were at the scene.

It has been confirmed that the 62-year-old male driver of the Hilux was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

The A9 road was closed to allow for an investigation and recovery of the vehicle. It was reopened at 4.30pm.

Police are now appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward.

Sergeant David Farr said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at this extremely difficult time.

“Our enquiries are ongoing, and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the vehicle prior to the crash to get in contact with officers.

I would also ask those driving in the area at the time with dash-cam footage to please review this to see if it has captured anything that could assist with our investigation.”
