A man and a dog have died following a flat fire in the early hours of Christmas Eve.

Emergency services were called to a fire at a property in the Brodie Court area of Glenrothes around 1.30am on Wednesday.

A man was found within the property and pronounced dead at the scene.

A dog also died as a result of the fire.

A joint investigation with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Police Scotland is ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.30am on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, we were called to a report of a fire at a property in the Brodie Court area of Glenrothes.

“Emergency services attended, and a man was found within the property. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“A dog also died as a result of the fire.

“A joint investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
