A man has been arrested in connection with two assaults at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary’s A&E on Friday.
The hospital’s Accident and Emergency department was put on lockdown and evacuated as emergency services were called around 5.30pm.
Police Scotland and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to the hospital. Two people were treated at the scene.
Fire crews confirmed the matter was a police incident and they were standing by to assist.
The A&E department reopened around 7.40pm as some emergency services left the scene.
NHS Grampian said it was dealing with a large backlog of patients as a result of the incident and asked patients only to attend the department in an emergency.
Officers arrested a 37-year-old man in connection with the attacks. An investigation into the full circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson: “A 37-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the assault of two people at a hospital in Aberdeen.
“Emergency services were called around 5.30pm on Friday, October 10, 2025, and two people were treated at the scene.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
