A man has been arrested and charged after an “altercation” in a layby on the A90 in Aberdeenshire left a woman in hospital.
Emergency services were called to a southbound layby near to the turn off for the B974, south of Laurencekirk, between 2pm and 3pm on Wednesday after receiving reports of a disturbance.
A man and a woman were said to have been involved in an “altercation”.
A 32-year-old woman was taken to hospital as a precaution.
Officers confirmed that a 55-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
Police have appealed for any witnesses who passed the incident to make themselves known as enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances.
Detective sergeant Gavin Fleming said: “Fortunately no one was injured but a 32-year-old woman was taken to hospital as a precaution.
“We are carrying out enquiries to find out what happened and we are keen to speak to anyone passing at the time.
“If you were driving past then please check your dash-cam footage to see if you have captured anything that could help with our investigation.”
