Man charged after crash damages electricity cable and shuts down road

A man has been charged after a crash shut down a road overnight in Moray.

Emergency services were called to the A96 between Alves and the Glenburgie Distillery junction at around 2am on Saturday after a crash.

The road was closed down after an electricity cable was damaged, and struck an additional vehicle.

A 34-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection.

No one was injured as a result of the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.15am on Saturday, November 30, police received a report of a crash on the A96 between Alves and the Glenburgie Distillery junction.

“The road was closed as an electricity cable was damaged in the crash.

“This damaged cable struck an additional vehicle although that car was not involved in the initial collision.

“No one was injured in the incident.

“One man aged 34, was arrested and charged in connection with road traffic offences.

“He is subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal. ”
