A man has been charged after rare Pokémon trading cards were allegedly stolen from a shop in Aberdeen.

The high-value collection was reportedly stolen from the city centre shop on Wednesday.

Officers from the community action team executed a search warrant at a residential property in the Dyce area on Friday where the cards were recovered.

The value of the collection is believed to be a four-figure sum.

A 34-year-old man has been arrested and charged and is expected to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday.

Constable Douglas of the community action team said: “Shoplifting is not a victimless crime, and this alleged theft had a detrimental impact on the business and its employees.

“We work closely with retailers and partners to disrupt and detect retail crime and will continue to do our utmost to bring offenders to justice.”
