Man charged after motorbike tears through Aberdeen football pitch while nine-year-olds play

A man has been charged after a group of young football players narrowly missed being struck by a motorbike as it raced through the middle of a children’s match in Aberdeen.

Footage shared by Kincorth AFC showed a dirt bike racing across the grass pitch while a group of players took part in a match on Tuesday evening.

The club says the players were just nine years old.

In the footage, the bike appears to be carrying two people and at one point passes a youngster at a close distance.

On Thursday, police confirmed the incident was reported to them the following morning and that an 18-year-old man was identified and charged in relation to the incident.

Positive lines of enquiry are still ongoing in relation to the other male involved, officers said.

Constable Jordan Titmuss said: “I would like to thank the local community for their assistance with this enquiry. We understand the fear and alarm this incident has caused for the youths and parents involved.

“We would like to encourage the community to report these types of incidents at the time they occur and to consider submitting intelligence to Crimestoppers or directly to Police Scotland in relation to the use of unregistered motor vehicles.

“We are reliant on the community to help us identify persons using these vehicles, where they store them and when they are most likely being used.”
