A man has been charged after residents were forced to evacuate their properties due to a disturbance in Aberdeen.

Police were alerted after a van struck other vehicles then made off in Invercauld Road at around 2am on Saturday.

After searching the area, officers attended a flat on Invercauld Road where a man was causing a disturbance.

Negotiators and specialist officers attended to assist and neighbouring properties in the block were evacuated as a precaution.

Locals were later returned to their homes.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection.

Inspector Hollie Murray said: “Around 2am on Saturday, August 15, 2026, we received a report of a crash on Invercauld Road, Aberdeen, where a van had struck other vehicles then made off.

“Officers searched the area and attended a flat on Invercauld Road.

“Due to a man causing a disturbance within a property, specialist officers including negotiators attended to assist. Neighbouring properties in the block were evacuated as a precaution.

“A 38-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection. He is due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday, 17 August.

“There were no reports of anyone injured and neighbours returned to their homes.

“We thank the local community for their patience and assistance with this incident.”
