Man charged following 'hate crime' incident at Pride event

A 28-year-old man has been charged after footage of an alleged hate crime was shared online.

A man has been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged hate crime at a Pride event in Dundee.

Police have confirmed a 28-year-old man is due to appear in court following the incident on Saturday, June 15.

An investigation was launched after video footage began circulating online.

Chief Inspector Colin Echevvarria, local area commander, said: “Any form of hate crime has a huge impact on those targeted.

“An attack on people because of their sexual orientation, gender identity, race or beliefs, is abhorrent and will not be tolerated. I would encourage anyone to report this type of crime.

“I want to thank the public for their support during our enquiries.”

The man is due to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court on Thursday.
