A man has been charged in connection with a “serious sexual assault” of a woman in an Aberdeen graveyard.
The 32-year-old was attacked in the St Clement Street area of the city in the early hours of the morning on Sunday, May 15.
Officers cordoned off the area around the East St Clement Street church shortly after 2.20am during the initial investigation.
A 31-year-old man has now been arrested and charged over the incident.
He appeared in private at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday, May 23, but has since been released on bail while the case against him was committed for further examination.
A Police Scotland spokesperson added: “A 31-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a serious sexual assault that happened around 2.20am on Sunday, May 15, in the St Clement Street area of Aberdeen.
“He is due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday, May 23.”
