A 55-year-old man has died after a house fire in Perth and Kinross during the early hours of Friday.
Police were called to a report of a blaze at a property on Bute Drive, Perth, at around 4am.
Emergency services attended the scene where the flames were extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS).
Police confirmed the man was taken to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the fire, but it is not thought to be suspicious, officers said.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 55-year-old man’s died following a fire on Bute Drive, Perth around 4am on Friday, March 18.
“There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.”
Area commander Stephen Wood, local senior Scottish Fire and Rescue Service officer for Perth, Kinross, Angus and Dundee, said: “We were alerted at 4.03am on Friday, March 18 to reports of a fire at property on Bute Drive, Perth.
“Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances to the scene and firefighters extinguished a fire affecting a first floor flat.
“One man was transferred into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.
“Sadly, after being taken to hospital, he later passed away.
“Our thoughts are very much with his family, friends and the wider community at this difficult time.”
