A man has been arrested following the alleged assault on Atholl Street, Dundee, on Wednesday.

A man is fighting for life in hospital after an alleged attack on a street in Dundee.

The 54-year-old was on Atholl Street, at 1.40pm on Wednesday when he is said to have been seriously assaulted by another man.

Emergency services were called to the scene and the victim was taken Ninewells Hospital, where medical staff describe his condition as critical.

Police confirmed that a 44-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and is expected to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court on Thursday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 1.40pm on Wednesday, April 6, police were called to Atholl Street in Dundee, following a report of a 54-year-old man being assaulted.

“He was taken to Ninewells Hospital with serious injuries and his condition is described as critical.

“A 44-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident and is expected to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court on Thursday, April 7.”
