Man fined after car hits school bus carrying Perth High School pupils

A man has been fined following a crash involving a car and a school bus taking pupils to Perth High School.

The bus broke down on Perth’s Dundee Road on the morning of Wednesday, September 30, when a car hit the back of it.

The section of Dundee Road between Branklyn Garden and The Old Toll House was closed, resulting in delays, and pupils were taken on a replacement bus to school.

During the incident, Perth and Kinross Council advised drivers to avoid the area. It has since confirmed alternative transport was arranged for pupils and that the road has reopened to traffic.

A Perth and Kinross Council spokesperson said: “This morning a school contract bus service taking pupils to Perth High School broke down on Dundee Road in Perth.

“While the bus was stopped on the road, a car collided with the rear of the vehicle. A replacement bus was arranged to complete the transport of the young people to school.

“The collision has resulted in delays on Dundee Road while the incident is being investigated by Police Scotland.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.30am on Wednesday, September 30, we received a report of a crash involving a car and a bus on Dundee Road in Perth.

“Emergency services attended, and no injuries were reported.

“A man was issued with a fixed penalty notice in connection with a road traffic offence.”
