Man found on hillside after going missing for three days

A man missing for three days has been found safe on a hillside by a gamekeeper.

Robin Green, 74, was reported missing from the west end of Aberdeen on Sunday.

He had last been seen in Mill of Strachan, Aberdeenshire, at around 2.30pm.

Gamekeepers in Grampian and Angus were asked to look out for Mr Green as he had been previously found on moorland in Deeside by a gamekeeper.

Police used a helicopter and drone in their search for him.

At around 7am on Wednesday, Sean McCubbin, a gamekeeper from Millden Estate, found Mr Green lying at the edge of a hill road near Mount Battock, wearing only a jacket and light t-shirt.

The keeper said he was keeping an eye out for the missing man after being alerted through the Angus Glens Moorland Group.

Mr McCubbin said: “Our group coordinator had made us aware of the police appeal and told us to look out for a missing person as we were going about our work.

“I saw the man lying down by the side of the hill road. He told me he was just having a wee nap and had seen the police chopper but it hadn’t see him.

“It was pretty overcast and a colder morning than recently and he wasn’t wearing clothes for the weather so it was good he was located.

“I just got got on the radio and took him down to the estate office for a heat, a cup of tea and some cake but he seemed fine.”

Mr Green was then picked up by police.

It is understood he took a bus from Aberdeen to Banchory on Sunday to walk the moors.
