A man has appeared in court charged with abduction and assault after an incident saw police fire a gun and deploy a taser on an Aberdeenshire street.
Police were called to a report of a disturbance at 12.40pm on Monday. During the incident officers discharged a firearm and also used a taser.
A 31-year-old man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with minor injuries after armed officers locked down Hunter Place in Stonehaven.
Martynas Kulvinskas made no plea at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
Kulvinskas, of no fixed abode, faced one charge of abduction and assault, another of abduction and assault to injury, and a charge of having a bladed or pointed article in a public place.
Hunter Place was locked down for hours and Police Scotland said detectives were continuing their investigation in the area this week.
Chief superintendent Kate Stephen said it was a contained incident and there was no ongoing threat to the public.
As with any firearm and taser deployment, the circumstances of the incident will be reviewed by the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (PIRC).
Kulvinskas was committed for further examination and remanded in custody, due to appear again within eight days.
