A man has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of a pensioner in Forres.
Emergency services were called to the Oyster Catcher Close area on Sunday, following reports of an 84-year-old woman being assaulted.
She was taken to Raigmore Hospital, where she remains with serious injuries.
Police confirmed a 25-year-old man had been arrested and charged in connection with the alleged attack.
Scott McCulloch, of Forres, made no plea when he appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
He faced charges of assault to severe injury, danger of life and attempted murder.
He was committed for further examination and remanded in custody. He is due to appear in court within the next eight days.
