A man has been left in hospital with a facial injury after being attacked by two men in Moray.
Police were called to Meadow Crescent, Elgin, on Friday after receiving reports that a 24-year-old had been seriously assaulted at around 8.45pm.
Emergency services took the man to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment to facial injuries, where he remains in a serious condition.
Officers have now launched an appeal for information and are looking to identify two men wearing dark-clothing who were in the area at the time of the attack.
Sergeant Kevin Ritchie, from the local Violence Reduction Unit, said: “Our enquiries are at an early stage into this incident. We are carrying out enquiries in the local area and reviewing CCTV footage to gather more information to identify two male suspects wearing dark-clothing who were seen in the area at the time.
“I would urge anyone who witnessed this attack take place, or who has any information that may assist our investigation. Information can be passed to officers through 101 with reference number 3499 of October 7.
“Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
