A man suspected of falling overboard from an offshore installation in the North Sea has been named by police.
Jason Thomas, from Wales, has been missing from the rig, which was under tow, since Sunday, January 22.
A major search through the night, involving the rig’s operator and the coastguard, was later stood down.
It was a week before police officers were able to board the rig, around 100 miles south-east of Aberdeen, to make enquiries.
They are now working with other agencies, including the Health and Safety Executive, to understand the circumstances surrounding Mr Thomas’ disappearance.
Rig owner Valaris has been contacted for comment.
