A 34-year-old man has been seriously injured in a two-car collision that closed part of the Aberdeen to Banff road for six hours.
The man, who was driving a Ford Focus, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary following the crash at around 10pm on Friday night.
His condition is believed to be life-threatening.
The 29-year-old male driver of the other car involved in the crash – a black Fiat 500X – was also taken to hospital for treatment to a foot injury but was later released.
The incident happened between Newmachar and the AWPR (A90) junction. Road Policing Officers responded to the scene and closed the road for six hours while they conducted their investigation.
Sergeant Scott Deans from the North East Road Policing Unit said: “We are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding this collision and would ask for anyone who was travelling on the A947, between Banff and Dyce at around 10pm on Friday evening to get in touch if they saw what happened.
“Similarly, if you believe you have dash-cam footage that captured the incident, then please also contact police immediately.”
