A man has been left significantly injured after being assaulted at a pub in Arbroath.

The 47-year-old was at the pub in Lordburn around 11.25pm on Friday when he was attacked.

The victim was taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment.

Police are now searching for a suspect, described as male, white, aged between 30 and 40 years old, of medium build with short dark hair and wearing a black jacket, jeans and dark trainers.

Detective constable Darren Suttie said: “This serious assault has left the victim with significant injuries. We are carrying out extensive enquiries to identify the person responsible.

“I would ask anyone who was in the bar at the time and may have witnessed the incident to come forward.”
