A 14-year-old boy has been assaulted by a man after an argument over the teenager cycling on the pavement.
Police are now looking to trace the man involved in the incident that took place on Keptie Road, Arbroath at around 6.30pm on Monday.
The boy was forcibly pulled off his bike by the suspect who was angry that he was riding it on the street.
He threatened the boy and a fight broke out before a member of the public stepped in to assist the youngster.
Officers investigating the attack are now looking to trace the man who is described as being aged between 45 and 50-years-old and around 5ft9 with a stocky build and short grey hair.
At the time of the assault he was wearing a black jacket, black bottoms and a beanie-type hat.
A spokesman for the force said: “We would also like to trace the member of the public who intervened and assisted the complainer.
“If you have any information that could assist our investigation, please call 101.”
