A man who attacked a woman from behind and pushed her to the ground was forced to flee when his victim fought back.
Police are now on the hunt for the man following the assault in Carnoustie, Angus, at around 10.25am on Wednesday.
The woman was walking through Craigmill Den when she was targeted. After fighting the man off, the suspect ran towards East Haven.
He was wearing black running leggings and black trainers.
Sergeant David Rice, of Dundee CID, said: “Thankfully no one was injured during this incident, but nonetheless this was a frightening experience for the woman and she is understandably shaken up.
“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident who may have witnessed what happened to please come forward.”
