Man who died of serious injuries while working on ship named

A man who died while working on a ship docked at an Aberdeen harbour has been named.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at Dunnottar Quay in the city around 3.40pm on Saturday following reports that a man had been seriously injured.

However the man later died at the scene.

He has now been identified as Albert Ross, known as ‘Abbey’, aged 67, from Aberdeen.

Police said a report would be submitted to the procurator fiscal and that the health and safety executive had been made aware of the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.40pm on Saturday, July 22, police were called to Dunottar Quay, Aberdeen South Harbour, in Aberdeen after a report that a man had been seriously injured whilst working on a ship docked at the site.

“Emergency services attended but the man died at the scene. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident. The Health and Safety Executive has been made aware.”
