A fire which broke out in the early hours of Tuesday morning has destroyed a McDonald’s restaurant in Angus.
Fire crews were called to the fast food outlet in Monifieth shortly before 1.15am on November 21.
It is understood there were five employees who were on shift at the time and McDonald’s confirmed that they were safely led from the building.
No casualties have been reported as a result of the blaze.
STV NewsAt the height of the incident, four fire appliances and a high reach appliance were at the scene.
Smoke was seen billowing from the business as fire crews tackled the flames.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said that one crew remains at the scene on Tuesday morning.
The A92 between West Grange Roundabout and Ethiebeaton Roundabout was closed by police while emergency services responded but the road has since reopened.
STV NewsA spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 1.13am on Tuesday, November 21 to a fire at a commercial property at Ethiebeaton Park, Monifieth.
“Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances and a high reach appliance to the scene.
“No casualties have been reported, one crew remain on scene.”
STV NewsA McDonald’s spokesperson said: “Following a serious fire onsite, our Monifieth – Arbroath Road restaurant is currently closed.
“All employees on shift at the time were safely evacuated and the fire and emergency services are still in attendance at the scene.”
