Multiple “high-value” bottles of whisky have been stolen from a distillery in Perthshire.

Officers were alerted to a break-in at the Glenturret Distillery near Crieff at about 4.45am on Saturday.

Among the stolen bottles was The Glenturret 25 Years Old attached, which sells for £1,400.

Police also shared an image of a bottle of Still Life Spring by Lalique which was also stolen in the incident.

The distillery announced it was closed on Saturday due to “unforeseen circumstances”.

“We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your understanding and continued support,” a post on social media read.

“We look forward to welcoming you back very soon – stay tuned to our channels for further updates.

“If you had a visit or experience planned for today, our team will be in touch to assist.”

A spokesperson for Police Scotland: “About 4.45am, Saturday, April 12, a high value break in occurred at the Glenturret Distillery west of Crieff.

“Several high value bottles of Glenturret whisky in distinctive bottles made by Lalique were stolen and remain outstanding.

“Any information in regard to this incident can be forwarded to police using 101 quoting reference 0709 of April 12, or using Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
