A woman’s flat was “like a horror movie” after she was allegedly murdered by her partner.
Emergency crews attended at the home of Neomi Smith in Brechin, Angus, last June 9.
Her 23-year-old boyfriend, Keith Rizzo, is on trial charged with killing her there.
On Wednesday, paramedic Angela McKenzie told the High Court in Glasgow how she attended there after a 999 call.
Jurors previously heard how blood-stained Neomi, also 23, was found stricken in the kitchen.
Miss McKenzie said: “It was like a horror movie. It was brutal.
“One police officer was holding the back of her neck, another doing chest compressions.”
The witness recalled Miss Smith’s eyes were like “golf balls swollen shut”.
The medic then checked her neck for injuries.
She said: “I can’t even describe it – it was like Leerdammer cheese.
“It was full of holes – the back of her head and her neck. I gave up counting how many holes there were.”
Miss McKenzie told the court that despite extensive effort – including 22 minutes of CPR – Miss Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.
Rizzo’s friend Ryan McDonald earlier gave evidence at the trial.
The 21-year-old claimed Rizzo admitted putting “hands on” Miss Smith following an incident last May.
Rizzo reportedly messaged his friend that Miss Smith was “my world in one person”.
Rizzo denies the accusations.
The trial, before Lady Rae, continues.
