Firefighters had to wake a deaf woman from her sleep as fire ripped through her neighbour’s home in Dundee.
Lorraine Wilson fled in her dressing gown after being woken by “pounding” on her door shortly after 5am on Monday.
The blaze had engulfed one of the properties in the four-villa block on Roslin Gardens where 61-year-old Lorraine lives.
“I wear hearing aids and really can’t hear without them,” she told STV News.
“They had to do some amount of pounding on the door to wake me, then I had to run out and get my cat out.
“There was no time to dress properly or take anything.”

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said 42 firefighters were called to the scene, along with an aerial platform.
The upper floor and roof of one property have been gutted, with some water and smoke damage to the other homes in the block.
Neighbours said the occupant of the house that caught fire wasn’t home at the time, and everyone else was safely evacuated. There were no reported injuries.
Lee Millar, who lives next door, was also out and came back to find fire damage to the roof of his home and a window in his van smashed as firefighters moved it to save it from the blaze.
“I got a phone call from another neighbour at 5am in the morning to say ‘are you in the house?’ to get out basically, but I wasn’t in.
“I walked up the road to find the next door neighbour’s house on fire.
“I’m just glad no one was hurt.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.05am on Monday, July 14, 2025, we were made aware of a fire at a property in the Roslin Gardens area of Dundee.
“The fire has been extinguished, and emergency services remain in attendance.”
