Aberdeen voted overwhelmingly to remain in the European Union, but that has not deterred Farage from 'selling out' the undisclosed venue.

Nigel Farage has revealed plans to broadcast an episode of his GB News talk show from a pub in Aberdeen.

The former UKIP leader was forced to take refuge in a bar when campaigners chased him down the Royal Mile in Edinburgh ten years ago, but will return of his own volition this time to the undisclosed location on April 20.

Farage at Large will visit seven towns and cities across the country, including Bolton, Crawley and Luton, but his Granite City appearance is the only Scottish date.

Tickets for the ardent Brexiteer’s show were priced at £1.50 and have allegedly sold out less than 24 hours after being released – despite Aberdeen voting 61% in favour of remaining in the EU during the 2016 ballot.

Guests for the show are yet to be confirmed, as is the location, which will only be revealed 24 hours prior to the event over “security concerns,” while those hoping to be in the crowd will require a photo ID.

GB News said Farage would “debate the tough subjects of the day, interview guests and host a Q&A with the audience which will be broadcast live across the U.K. on TV and radio”.

However, the move has been less well received by some of the city’s political figures, including Aberdeen Central MSP Kevin Stewart, who told the Press and Journal newspaper Farage “might not be the most popular of visitors”.

“Aberdeen is a diverse, warm and welcoming city, that has opened its arms to folk from across the world. It is also a city that benefitted hugely from European Union membership,” he said.

“This city represents so much of what Nigel Farage’s politics have tried to tear down.

“Perhaps he could use his visit to see the damage that Brexit has done to our city, and admit that it hasn’t worked for Aberdeen.”
