No court action will be taken against a man who was arrested and charged after allegedly holding eggs near the Queen’s coffin as it passed through Aberdeen.
A 38-year-old man was charged with breach of the peace near Duthie Park in the city as the late monarch’s coffin passed on Sunday, September 11, 2022.
There were no reports that any eggs were thrown.
Thousands had gathered to mark the route taken by the Queen’s coffin as it made its way from Balmoral, to lie in rest at St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh.
A spokesperson for the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service said: “The Procurator Fiscal received a report relating to a 38-year-old male and an incident said to have occurred on September 11, 2022.
“After careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the case, including the available admissible evidence, the Procurator Fiscal decided that there should be no proceedings taken at this time.
“The Crown reserves the right to proceed in the future should further evidence become available.”
