No crime has been established in relation to the alleged rape of a woman in a wooded area in Fife.

Emergency services were alerted to the reported attack between 2am and 5am in the early hours of Sunday near Abbots Mill in Kirkcaldy.

Detectives examined CCTV footage and conducted door-to-door enquiries following the incident.

Police Scotland has now confirmed that no crime has been established following the investigation.

Detective inspector Kieran Marsh said: “I wish to thank the local community for their assistance in our investigation.

“We have carried out extensive enquiries and are satisfied we are no longer investigating criminality.”
