Passenger who died in crash involving lorry and van named

Neil Humphreys, from Warwickshire, died in the collision near Laurencekirk, Aberdeenshire, on Wednesday, February 12.

A van passenger who died in a crash involving a lorry on the A90 has been named.

Emergency services attended the scene of the crash, which involved a silver Mercedes Vito van and a grey Mercedes HGV, near Laurencekirk, Aberdeenshire at around 10.20am on Wednesday, February 12.

Neil Humphreys, 62, from Warwickshire was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 43-year-old male driver of the van was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.

The 52-year-old driver of the lorry was taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment.

The road was closed for around 12 hours while investigations were carried out.

Police have issued a fresh appeal for information and are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward.

Road Policing Sergeant Dave Cooper said: “Our thoughts are very much with Mr Humphreys’ family, who have asked for their privacy to be respected during this incredibly difficult time.

“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash, and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the crash but has not yet come forward.

“I would also ask anyone who was driving in the area at the time with a dash-cam to check their footage and share anything that could assist our investigation.

“Anyone who can assist is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 0924 of February, 12.”
