A pedestrian who died after being struck by a taxi people carrier on the outskirts of Aberdeen has been named.

Emergency services were called to the A92, north of Murcar, around 3.10am on Thursday, April 23 after a man was struck by a blue Ford people carrier.

The 41-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Tuesday evening, he was named as Scott Mutch from Ellon.

His family has paid tribute to him as a much-loved son and brother and request their privacy is respected at this time.

Sergeant Lesley Morrison, North East Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts remain with Scott’s family and friends at this difficult time.

“Our investigation is ongoing and I would like to thank everyone that has contacted us so far.

“Anyone with information who has not yet spoken to us should contact officers through 101, quoting reference number 0317 of April 23, 2026.”
