A pensioner has been left seriously injured after a crash in Nairn.

The 91-year-old pedestrian was taken to hospital following the incident that involved two cars.

Emergency services were called to the junction of Thurlow Road and Seafield Street after a collision between the man, a red Mazda and black Honda.

Medical staff have described the injured man’s condition as serious as police appeal for witnesses.

Sergeant Kate Park of the Road Policing Unit said: “The pedestrian was taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment for serious injuries.

“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time of the crash to please come forward. If you have a dashcam, you may have captured footage which could assist our investigation.

“The road is currently closed to allow a full investigation to be carried out and local diversions are in place.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact us through 101.”
