A person was rescued from a river at a Perthshire beauty spot following a multi-agency rescue mission.

Emergency services received reports of a man getting into trouble at River Brahan, near to The Hermitage in Dunkeld on Sunday afternoon.

Police confirmed that the man was rescued safely, and no injuries were reported following the incident.

A National Trust for Scotland Facebook page for The Hermitage and Dunkeld thanked emergency services for their “speedy” response.

The post said: “A huge thank you to the amazing emergency services who arrived quickly at The Hermitage (on Sunday) to rescue someone from the river”.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Services sent three fire engines and two boats to the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.40pm on Sunday, May 5, 2024, police received a report of a man in trouble within the River Brahan, near to The Hermitage in Dunkeld.

“Emergency services attended and the man was rescued safely.

“There were no injuries reported.”

Tayside Mountain Rescue Team said: “Alongside our colleagues at Scottish Fire and Rescue service and Police Scotland, to an incident involving a male in the water at The Hermitage yesterday.

“The male was successfully rescued by raft and all units stood down by 4:30pm.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 3.44pm on Sunday, May 5, to reports of a person in need of assistance within water near Dunkeld, Perth and Kinross.

“Operations Control mobilised three appliances and two water rescue units to the scene, close to the A9, where firefighters led the person to safety.

“The individual was left in the care of Scottish Ambulance Service personnel and crews thereafter left the scene.”
