A student who was diagnosed with an inoperable form of brain cancer following months of debilitating headaches has died with his family by his side.

Jordan Kearney, 22, was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary after a 4cm mass was discovered during an appointment at an opticians in June.

An emergency biopsy was performed and the student from Peterhead was diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme – which was deemed inoperable due to its location.

His family launched a fundraiser after his diagnosis to try and get him special treatment to battle the tumour, which raised over £61,000.

A local funeral director released a statement at the family’s request revealing that Jordan died peacefully at his home on Thursday.

It read: “Very peacefully, at his home, with his family by his bedside, on Thursday December 22, 2022, after an illness courageously endured, Jordan Owen Kearney aged 22 years.

“Dearly loved and cherished eldest son of Maria and Damian, a much loved and loving brother of Natalie and Jony, a dear grandson, nephew, cousin, uncle and friend of many.

“Very sadly and sorely missed. No callers and no flowers please. Funeral arrangements later.”

A tribute from his aunt Lisa Ann was posted to social media, where she described him as a “complete pleasure to be around”.

She wrote: “You could never of meet a kinder person who never had a bad word to say about anyone.

“He was caring full of life a Complete pleasure to be around, so very well respected young gentleman.

“Jordan son please wrap your strong arms around your mum and dad brother and sister keep them strong am proud to be your auntie this is not goodbye son I see you on the other side.

“Give mum and dad the biggest hugs we love you forever 22 young.”
