Plans for £35m development including 75 holiday homes and golf course submitted to Fife council

Eden Muir Ltd, which has successfully operated Eden Springs Fishery since 2021, has submitted a full planning application for Fife Council which would see the construction of up to 75 holiday lodges.

According to developers, the project will create “38 full time jobs with an additional 20 jobs anticipated to be generated indirectly as a result of the increased activity,” if plans are approved.

Each lodge will have an EV charging station and solar panels, and the development will also connect to existing walking trails and cycleways.

Additionally, the proposals include a reception building, car parking, maintenance facilities, a play area and a crazy golf course.

“The submission of our planning application marks the latest step in our journey to unlocking the potential of this site and delivering investment that will not only bolster the local economy but create a thriving destination that can be used by both the community and visitors alike,” said Chris Ritchie, Director at Eden Muir Ltd.

The fishery has been open since 2021 when redevelopment saw the former quarry filled with trout and 19 fishing platforms were installed.

Since then, it has attracted visitors from across Scotland for a wide range of activities – including wild swimmers, bird watchers and walkers.

According to developers, the holiday lodge plans will bolster and complement the existing activities.

“The fishery has become a hub of activity with various uses among a range of different users and we believe our proposals will enhance our offering to those visiting by offering visitor accommodation for those who come to visit the idyllic setting,” said Mr Ritchie.

This formal planning application is the latest step in the development process for Eden Muir, and it follows on from two public consultation events last year. Developers said the feedback “helped shape the final proposals submitted to Fife Council.”

“As we move forward with our plans, we remain committed to ongoing collaboration with local community groups and engaged stakeholders,” Mr Ritchie concluded.

The proposals are currently open for public comment. The council will evaluate the application and make a decision in due course.
