Police investigate after cyclists 'punched by passenger in van'

Police are investigating after two cyclists were allegedly punched by a passenger in a van on Saturday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the Lunan Bay road area, between Montrose and Arbroath, at around 2pm after a man and woman cycling were assaulted.

A man allegedly reached out the passenger side window of a white van and punched both before making off.

The vehicle is believed to have continued travelling towards Lunan Bay following the assault.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this or may have CCTV or dash cam footage around the time of this incident to make themselves known.
