Police have launched an investigation into a ‘wilful’ fire at a set of high rise flats in Aberdeenshire.

Emergency services were alerted at around 3.40pm on Sunday to a fire at Bruce House in Hazelhead, Aberdeenshire.

The fire was quickly extinguished by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, and nobody was injured as a result.

Police are treating the incident as ‘wilful’ as officers investigate.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 3.40pm on Sunday, 16 January, to a report of a fire in Hazlehead Gardens, Aberdeen.

“The fire was put out by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and no one was injured.

“The incident is being treated as wilful and enquires are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.”
