A police officer who appeared in court charged with the rape of a woman will no further court proceedings.
Gary Forbes appeared at Aberdeen Sheriff Court in November 2024, accused of raping a 34-year-old woman at a property in the city in August that year.
He made no plea and was released on bail.
The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) said that Crown Counsel had instructed there should be no further proceedings taken.
A statement read: “After careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the case, including the available admissible evidence, Crown Counsel instructed that there should be no further proceedings taken at this time.
“The Crown reserves the right to proceed in the future should further evidence become available.”
A serving police officer, Forbes, was suspended from duties at the time.
Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
