Detectives investigating an alleged sexual assault have concluded ‘no crime was committed’.
A manhunt was launched after a 37-year-old woman claimed she was attacked in the Windmill Street area of Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, while walking home on Sunday evening.
On Wednesday, a force spokesperson stated the investigation was over.
They said: “Police Scotland is now able to confirm that following the report of a sexual assault in the Windmill Street area of Peterhead in the evening of Sunday, February 16, detectives have carried out a thorough investigation and inquiries have concluded, with no criminality established.
“No further police action is required.
“Officers would like to thank the public for their cooperation that allowed our investigations to take place.”
