Officers investigating the discovery of a body found in the River Tay in Aberfeldy have identified a man they believe to be the deceased.
Police Scotland said while formal identification is yet to take place the man’s next of kin has been informed.
The man’s body was discovered by a member of the public near Wades Bridge on Saturday, August 17.
Officers had previously been unable to identify the man who was found wearing only black underwear.
No personal belongings were found near to where the body was discovered and there had been no missing person reports made to police matching his description.
Detective Sergeant Stan Gilroy said: “We would like to thank the public for assisting with our enquiries whilst we worked to identify this man and notify his family.”
