Google MapsMembers of the public have been warned to “avoid the area” after a gas cylinder caught on fire near to Aberdeen harbour.
Fire crews were called to an industrial unit on York Street in Footdee shortly before 2pm on Tuesday, following reports of a gas cylinder which had caught alight.
Two engines were deployed, and firefighters remain at the scene to make the area safe.
No injuries were reported as a result.
Images on social media showed a police cordon in place on York Street, with eyewitnesses saying there was “no access” to the area.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 1.57pm on Tuesday, June 13 to reports of a gas cylinder which had caught alight at an industrial unit on York Street, Aberdeen.
“Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the scene.
“Firefighters remain on scene as they work to make the area safe. There are no reported casualties”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.15pm on Tuesday, June 13, officers were called to assist emergency services following a fire within a premises on York Street, Aberdeen.
“The road is closed and the public should avoid the area.”
