Remains have been found in the search for a woman swept away in a river amid severe flooding in Aberdeenshire a year and a half ago.
Hazel Nairn disappeared at the River Don near Monymusk in November 2022 while she was out with her dog.
The body of her pet was later found near the river but extensive searches failed to locate the 71-year-old.
On Tuesday, May 7, 2024, police said they had recovered human remains from the River Don near Kemnay, Inverurie, at around 1.20pm.
Formal identification has yet to take place but Ms Nairn’s family has been informed police said.
Police said the death is currently being treated as unexplained but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.
