Two dolphins which were stranded on a beach in Angus were rescued after a multi-agency operation.
The alarm was raised at 9am and at around 11.15am on July 5, rescuers from the Broughty Ferry RNLI lifeboat were called by Aberdeen coastguard to help refloat two stranded dolphins on Monifieth Beach.
Members of the public were asked to stay away to allow the rescue mission, which included the coastguard and volunteers from the British Divers Maritime Life Rescue (BDMLR), to continue.
Broughty Ferry RNLIThe rescue operation took a few attempts to get the dolphins into the water as they subsequently re-beached.
The dolphins gradually became healthier and were refloated back into the water after around 90 minutes.
A HM Coastguard spokesperson said: “The coastguard rescue team from Dundee was sent to Monifieth Sands this morning to support the response to two stranded dolphins.
“The alarm was raised at about 9.10am and Broughty Ferry RNLI’s inshore lifeboat was also sent to provide safety cover.
“Volunteers from British Divers Marine Life Rescue refloated the dolphins.”
